BEC Photography

I know this is a little late Thanksgiving posting, but I guess you should give thanks everyday.  I want to thank God for the gift of photography.  Sometimes I wonder if God takes pictures of me to put up in that mansion He is building.  Little memories from my time on earth.  I pray that if He does that He finds something worth photographing.  Wouldn't that be cool for God to frame the best pictures up on our heavenly abode.  May I live a life that honors Him and brings a smile to His face.

I also want to thank the people that have allowed me to photograph them and have been nothing but encouraging of the little I have to offer them.  Here are a few of my favorite shots I have been blessed to capture.

Here is a picture that reminds me of why photography speaks to us.  Now you may not know this couple here but if you did this picture would make you smile and want to live out your faith more fiercely.  I am blessed to say that this couple is a part of my family.  They were before I even knew it (spiritually speaking ) but now more so because they are my husband's Aunt and Uncle.  I love them and their picture.

Days from today I will be able to show this picture to my children and say "So this is love.  To love God.  To love people.  To love your spouse.  To love your family.  To love the Church.  Let me tell you about this here couple."

And a quote to go with the sentiment this picture brings to my heart.

The Weight of Glory

"...It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you say it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these destinations. It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all our dealing with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal." -C.S. Lewis

Oh God, as I bring my subject into focus and prepare to make each portrait, never let me forget that I’m creating treasures for some family, a keepsake for loved ones. Make me sensitive to the qualities and virtues of others, that I may draw out into the light the beautiful radiant belongings of their hearts. Help me to be an artist, collecting the beauty of every soul, the glow of youth, the gentleness, the laughter or tears of each life that is precious in Thy sight. Deeper than a means of livelihood, give me the perspective to see my photographer’s art as a service to others, making life richer and more memorable.

And, dear Lord, between the lights and shadows, the ups and downs and the rolling years, keep me from getting out of focus or off center, so that my life and work may be framed with dignity and colored with contentment …

AMEN
